El lugar escogido para la ampliación del MALI se convertirá en un espacio de confluencia peatonal obligatorio por encontrarse ubicado entre la Estación del Metro y el Parque de la Exposición. Esta condición será potenciada por la Propuesta creando los escenarios urbanos necesarios para que se facilite el encuentro y la estancia de las personas. Este planteamiento ofrecerá la oportunidad de convertir a la nueva Ala de arte contemporáneo en un edificio de carácter público que permitirá tener visuales desde y hacia el interior gracias a una topografía artificial que minimiza el impacto dado por la excavación de la obra.

La conexión entre el MALI y la nueva Ala de arte contemporáneo solo podrá ser generada a través de transiciones en el espacio público. La propuesta considera que una superficie continua, que conecte los diferentes niveles y espacios que se darán entre el MALI, la nueva Ala de arte contemporáneo y la estación del Metro, sea el elemento arquitectónico que le de forma al proyecto. Esta superficie será pública y permitirá que la transición entre el interior y el exterior sea fluida, casi sin límites.

La idea central es mantener el MALI como una presencia constante que pueda ser percibida desde la nueva Ala, destacando el valor patrimonial del Palacio de la Exposición.

The place chosen for the expansion of the MALI will become a mandatory pedestrian confluence space because it is located between the Metro Station and the Exhibition Park. This condition will be strengthened by the Proposal by creating the necessary urban settings to facilitate the meeting and stay of people. This approach will offer the opportunity to convert the new Contemporary Art Wing into a public building that will allow visuals from and towards the interior thanks to an artificial topography that minimizes the impact given by the excavation of the work.

The connection between MALI and the new Contemporary Art Wing can only be generated through transitions in the public space. The proposal considers that a continuous surface, connecting the different levels and spaces that will be found between the MALI, the new Contemporary Art Wing and the Metro station, is the architectural element that shapes the project. This surface will be public and will allow the transition between the interior and the exterior to be fluid, almost without limits.

The central idea is to maintain the MALI as a constant presence that can be perceived from the new Wing, highlighting the heritage value of the Palace of the Exposition.
